Hours: General office hours are 10.00-6.00

ArtReview is a world-renowned publisher of contemporary art magazines and has a long-standing history of producing quality products with highly regarded editorial. It has been in existence since 1949 and is published 9 times a year. ArtReview Asia was launched in 2013 and is quarterly. ArtReview China is launching in November and we are looking for an Assistant Editor to join our established and respected editorial team.
While the primary responsibilities of the Assistant Editor relate to ArtReview’s Chinese edition, you will work across all ArtReview’s print and digital publications and its commercial partnerships.
The Assistant Editor is required to be fluent in both Mandarin and in English and able to fact-check and edit texts in both languages. You will be able to translate from English to Mandarin and vice versa. You will have a keen eye for detail and be comfortable working across time zones in a multinational team. A prior knowledge of WeChat and other Chinese social-media platforms is a prerequisite of the role.

ArtReview’s Chinese edition
The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Editor relate to ArtReview’s quarterly Chinese edition. You will be responsible for clearing text and image rights for articles moving from ArtReview and ArtReview Asia to the Chinese edition. And you will verify translations of the same. You will also liaise between the Chinese edition’s Shanghai-based team and ArtReview’s London headquarters.
Additionally, you will work with the China team on preparing content for ArtReview’s WeChat accounts, marketing and other social media. This will include both content from the magazine and original posts. You will also assist in the management of ArtReview’s Chinese-language commercial partnerships and ensure that the China and London offices have a coordinated approach. And you will be creatively involved in the marketing campaigns for the Chinese edition. In both cases this will involve both writing and preparing posts and translating posts from English to Mandarin.

You will work with the teams on the above titles to assist with image research and fact checking, and may be asked to contribute English-language articles across all titles. You will also work with the Commercial team on partnership posts and activations.
You will monitor Chinese-language exhibitions, movies and books to suggest items for potential review, and be involved in finding and developing new English-language writers based in China.
