Abbas Akhavan wins 2015 Sobey Art Award

Toronto-based artist Abbas Akhavan, representing Ontario, is the winner of the 2015 Sobey Art Award. Awarded every year by the Sobey Art Foundation, the $50,000 prize honours Canadian contemporary emerging artists under the age of 40. Akhavan was selected among a shortlist of five, including Raymond Boisjoly

(for West Coast and Yukon), Sarah Anne Johnson (for Prairies and the North), Jon Rafman (for Quebec) and Lisa Lipton (for Atlantic), who will all be on show at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia in Halifax until 3 January 2016.
