Founded in Madrid in 1998, architects studio SelgasCano, headed by José Selgas and Lucía Cano, are the first Spanish architecture practice to be awarded the annual commission to design the temporary Serpentine Gallery Pavilion. The practice is known for its use of synthetic materials and new technologies, distinctive colours and references to nature.

Previous Pavilion architects include Smiljan Radić (2014); Sou Fujimoto, (2013); Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei (2012) and Zaha Hadid, who designed the inaugural Pavilion in 2000.

The plans for the pavilion, which will be the fifteenth, will be unveiled in February 2015.
