This week the Athens and Epidaurus festival, due to run from June through August, has seen the resignation of its artistic director, Belgian artist Jan Fabre, following the complaints of Greek artists taking part in the event, the Guardian reports. Fabre, who was invited to curate the arts festival by the Greek minister of culture Aristides Baltas, was accused of dominating the festival with ‘Belgian spirit’ and not respecting the event's history and culture. Artist Vangelis Theodoropoulos has been named as the festival's new director.
