The third edition, titled Coyote Time, will run from 12 September to 12 December and is curated by Stefanie Hessler, Jordan Carter, Raphael Fonseca, Nora N. Khan and Wanda Nanibush.
\n\n\n\n
The exhibition will explore uncertainty as a space for experimentation and look into questions of education, climate, technology and immigration. The title is drawn from a newly commissioned videogame work by Alice Bucknell, referring to a moment in the gameplay where the user must decide between leaping forward or returning to safety.
\n\n\n\n
‘Counterpublic 2026: Coyote Time gather artists working across material practice, time-based media, and emergent technologies’, the curators said in a statement. ‘Each artist engages local and site-responsive practices with wider international considerations and reverberations. In the face of these structural and political conditions, the artists offer patient, searching and speculative propositions and poetic reckonings that expand the range of what is imaginable, thinkable, and possible. In Coyote Time, the suspended instant after the leap is itself the form to consider.’
\n\n\n\n
The full list of 47 artists, duos and collectives is as follows:
\n\n\n\n
Alan Nakagawa, Ali Eyal, Alice Bucknell, Anika Todd, Benjamin Patterson, Brianna Leatherbury, Carolina Caycedo, Chris Carl, Chris Curreri, Cooper Jacoby, Dail Chambers, Emma McCormick-Goodhart, Glenn Ligon, Guadalupe Rosales, Inès Kivimäki, Jamie Lee Harris, Jean-Marc Bullet and Céline Semaan, Juanita McNeely, Kite, Li Yi-Fan, Lisa Alvarado and Joshua Abrams, Lynne Smith, Malcolm Peacock, Margaret Honda, Max Hooper Schneider, Mee Jey, Nicholas Galanin, Occupy Vacancy, People’s Art and Recreation Center (PARC), Petrit Halilaj, Rachel Youn, Rebecca Belmore, Rirkrit Tirivanija, Ryan Trecartin and Lizzie Fitch, Sandra Brewster, Sebastián Llovera, Sissel Tolaas, Stephen Andrews, Timmy Simonds, Tom Burr, Tony Cokes, Tromarama, Won Ju Lim, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Yakita Fields, Vaughn Davis Jr.
\n","path":"/artist-list-for-counterpublic-2026-announced/","format":"standard","date":"07 April 2026","rawDate":"2026-04-07T16:42:49.000Z","branch":{"name":"artreview.com"},"author":{"name":"ArtReview","path":"/author/artreview/"},"category":{"name":"News","path":"/category/news/"},"featured_media":{"source_url":"https://backend.artreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1.-Bucknell.png","caption":"","alt_text":"A pixelized motorcycle driver is seen from behind riding into the sunset along an American highway","media_details":{"width":1536,"height":1024,"sizes":{"thumbnail":{"source_url":"https://backend.artreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1.-Bucknell-300x200.png","width":300,"height":200},"medium":{"source_url":"https://backend.artreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1.-Bucknell-600x400.png","width":600,"height":400},"large":{"source_url":"https://backend.artreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/1.-Bucknell-1230x820.png","width":1230,"height":820},"wordpress_1536x1536":null,"wordpress_2048x2048":null}}},"acf":{"article_artist":null,"article_video":null,"article_audio":null,"article_collaboration":"","article_custom_html_snippet":"","article_featured_title":"","article_featured_description":"","article_highlight":false,"article_custom_link_url":"","hero_image":null,"seo_title":"News: Artist list for Counterpublic 2026 announced","seo_description":"The full artist list for Counterpublic, the triennial exhibition based in St. Louis, Missouri, has been announced.
