A festival of video and performance from the south, 6 November – 2 February, São Paulo

The eighteenth edition of the Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil opens next week, with the São Paulo-based film and video festival celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. The central exhibition this year is titled Southern Panoramas, a curated open submission survey of moving image art from southern hemisphere. 

It boasts 106 works by 94 artists from 32 different countries (nine from Latin \nAmerica, seven from Africa, five from the Middle East, five from \nSoutheast Asia, four from Eastern Europe and two from Oceania), exhibited at the Sesc Pompeia sports complex, designed by the Italian-Brazilian modernist architect Lina Bo Bard. This runs alongside performances by the likes of Alexandre da Cunha and Chelpa Ferro and a host of other screenings, talks and discussions.
