FF Gaiden: Alternative forms the middle segment of a film trilogy which is itself part of ongoing project by artists Larry Achiampong & David Blandyinspired by the lost plays of Frantz Fanon and his observations on colonialism and violence, and the virtual reality game Grand Theft Auto. 

This film was made in collaboration with young people involved with Tyneside Cinema’s free arts programme. The first part of the trilogy, FF Gaiden: Control, was made in collaboration with former Armed Services personnel  who are now serving time in prison and was screened in April at FACT in Liverpool. The final instalment, made in collaboration with migrants without documents from Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kurdistan and Afghanistan, is currently in production.

FF Gaiden: Alternative, is showing through 16 June at The Gallery, Tyneside Cinema. 

The artists will be in conversation with Curator Osei Bonsu Wednesday 8 June, 18.30 – 20.00.
