This year Andreas Gursky hasn’t put it about quite as much as he has in others, but he still holds the auction record for the highest price paid for a photographic image: £1.7 million for his 99 Cent II (Diptych) (2001). He’s also been present in the artworld’s newest marketplace, with shows at Moscow’s Ekaterina Cultural Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv.
