Financial Controller, ArtReview & ArtReview Asia

This is a hands-on Financial Controller role managing the core finance function for company, including supplier management & payments and payroll. You will be responsible for the financial accounting and statutory reporting for the company.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring timely and accurate recording of financial transactions
  • Oversight of, and overall responsibility for, the production of the monthly financial accounts and liaison with Finance Business Partners to enable effective and timely distribution of internal reporting.
  • Ongoing review, development, implementation, communication and monitoring of financial controls and processes, supporting all key financial transaction processes.
  • Balance sheet control, ensuring completeness, relevance and accuracy of all ledgers.
  • Review of significant transactions to ensure policy and accounting standard compliance.
  • Managing the Monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close processes.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships
  • To develop effective relationships with relevant internal stakeholders and head office.
  • To develop a positive and productive working relationship with the commercial finance team to drive a proactive and value adding finance function.
  • Answer ad hoc queries from stakeholders and internal clients relating to payment processes and expense claims.
  • Liaise with external parties such as auditors, local accountants for regional offices, suppliers and relationship managers.
  • People Management
  • Line management and personal and professional development of the UK based accounting team.
  • Process Improvement Champion
  • Actively contributing towards the drive for continuous improvement, looking to maximise operational efficiency and improve upon standard operating procedures for all systems and processes.
  • Partnering with IT development team to ensure timely and relevant finance and commercial system improvements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent): With broad experience covering controls, commercial and operational finance.
  • Commercial expertise and operational finance experience.
  • Detailed and proven process and control background
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels
  • Strong business and client awareness
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables & Lookup functions
  • Advanced Sage 50 knowledge

Media Sales Executive Asia, ArtReview & ArtReview Asia

ArtReview / ArtReview Asia is looking for a confident and experienced Media Sales Executive based in Shanghai or Greater China, to cover sales in China and across Asia.

Duties:

  • Maintains relationships with commercial and institutional clients by providing support, information, and guidance
  • Sells print and online products by establishing contact and developing relationships with potential partners
  • Represents the company to key stakeholders in the art industry and at national and international art events
  • Creates business opportunities by identifying prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; autonomously researches and analyses sales options
  • Oversees contract administration of key partners
  • Prepares reports for the Publisher by collecting, analysing, and summarising information
  • Maintains professional knowledge and networks by regularly attending art events (including evenings and weekends); reviews competitor publications; establishes personal networks and participates in professional societies
  • Development and execution of ArtReview talks and networking events & collaborative events with brand partners 

Skills and Qualifications:

Fluency in both English and Mandarin is essential, as is a willingness to travel. The successful candidate will have excellent presentation skills, an ability to manage client relationships and a good knowledge of Asia’s art markets. They will also be experienced in negotiation, prospecting, and meeting sales targets, as well as demonstrating creativity, an aptitude for planning, and an ability to work independently
