The cofounder of the Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation and artistic director of the 2026 edition (as he was of the previous four) has already announced 15 artists (among them Mel Chin, Ri and Sun Yuan & Peng Yu) and venues across the Thai capital (including temples and institutions such as BACC and Museum Siam). Appropriate to a city known as the City of Angels, the show takes the title Angels & Mara. Poshyananda, formerly an artist whose work is in several museum collections, as well as an art educator and writer, this year pushed another concern, the return to public display of a memorial to the 2004 tsunami by Louise Bourgeois, which the curator commissioned back when he was working in Thailand’s Ministry of Culture. Hold Me Close will be reinstalled in December. Having organised The Spirits of Maritime Crossing, a group show at the previous Venice Biennale, he returns in 2026 to advise the Timor-Leste Pavilion. Poshyananda lends this experience to the Asian Art Council at New York’s Guggenheim; the research committee of the National Gallery Singapore; and to the CEO of the ThaiBev drinks conglomerate.
