Billy Tang to helm new London nonprofit

Billy Tang has been appointed artistic director of Yan Du Project, a new nonprofit space in London opened by the eponymous collector.

Tang was previously at Para Site in Hong Kong, where he served as executive director for three years. Prior to that, he held curatorial roles at Shanghai’s Rockbund Art Museum and Beijing’s Magician Space.

‘Having worked across a spectrum of institutional structures worldwide,’ Tang told ARTnews, ‘I am driven by the desire to come full circle, bringing my hard-won experience back to the city that has been a profound source of inspiration for me as both a curator and a Londoner.’

Yan Du Project, dedicated to Asian and Asian diasporic artists, opens to the public on 14 October 2025 with an exhibition by Chinese artist Duan Jianyu.
