The Courtauld in London has announced plans to open two new galleries devoted to contemporary art, following a £10 million gift from the Blavatnik Family Foundation.

The recent gift brings the Blavatnik Family Foundation’s investment in the institute to £20 million. Chaired by Leonard and Lady Emily Blavatnik, the foundation’s involvement in the UK capital’s arts institutions also includes gifts to the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Royal Academy, and Tate.

The new Blavatnik Contemporary Galleries are expected to open in 2029 as part of the development of the Courtauld’s new campus at Somerset House.
