Didier Fusillier has been appointed president of French government body Réunion des musées nationaux-Grand Palais (Rmn-GP), succeeding Chris Dercon who left the position last October to head the Fondation Cartier in Paris. A governmental cultural body in France, Rmn-GP runs Grand Palais Paris and the Musée du Luxembourg, and collaborates with around 20 other institutions in the country’s cultural sector.
Fusillier arrives from his position as president of the Public Establishment of the Park and the Great Hall of La Villette, which he started in 2015 and was reappointed in 2020. From 1993 to 2015, he directed the Maison des arts de Créteil (MAC) where he launched the triennial Lille 3000.
Fusillier will oversee the restoration of the Grand Palais in preparation for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games. He will also work closely with the Centre Pompidou, as parts of the Centre’s collection temporarily relocate into Grand Palais’s national galleries while Pompidou’s Beaubourg main site undergoes refurbishment from 2025 to 2030.
