
The Al-Futtaim Group has revealed plans for the forthcoming Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA) on Saturday. Designed by Pritzker prize-winning architect Tadao Ando, the museum will be built on an artificial jetty in Dubai Creek and will house exhibition galleries, a library, study rooms and a restaurant and VIP lounge.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, said at the unveiling event: ‘This new cultural landmark advances our strategic goal to position Dubai as a global hub for creativity and culture, and cements its place on the modern art map.’
Al-Futtaim is a Dubai-based conglomerate ‘committed to delivering the highest quality products and services’. Its portfolio includes automotive, retail, real estate, health, finance and education. Omar Al Futtaim, vice chairman and CEO of the company said, ‘Al-Futtaim remains dedicated to delivering this landmark with excellence, reflecting our enduring commitment to sustainability and the cultural sector’s vital role in shaping inclusive progress.’
No timeline has been announced for the project.
