SITE Santa Fe has tapped the British curator Ekow Eshun to organise the 13th edition of SITE Santa Fe International.
Eshun is a writer and curator, currently chairman of the London-based public arts programme The Fourth Plinth and previously director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. Eshun is also in line to curate the tenth edition of the British Art Show, opening in Coventry in September 2026 before touring to Swansea, Bristol, Sheffield and Newcastle Gateshead.
‘New Mexico, known as the Land of Enchantment, is a place where land, imagination, and lived experience are deeply entwined, and where ecological forces have profoundly shaped cultural and human relations’ Eshow said in a statement. ‘Santa Fe is a site where multiple histories, cultures, and stories intersect, and that richness offers a compelling starting point for an exhibition. I’m excited to collaborate with artists to shape a project that moves between the local and the global, the real and the imagined.’
The 12th edition, titled Once Within a Time and curated by Cecilia Alemani, opened in June 2025 through January 2026. There had until then been no edition of the biennial since 2018.
The 13th edition is scheduled to open in summer 2027.
