On Tuesday, a Russian missile strike on Kupyansk, Ukraine killed two employees at a local historical museum, including its director Iryna Osadcha aged 55 years old. Ten other people were wounded, according to the state emergency service.
Kupyansk, a city in the eastern Kharkiv Region, is an important rail hub in Ukraine, and was occupied by Russian forces for months after their invasion in February 2022. Ukraine recaptured the city in a counteroffensive in September.
‘The terrorist country is doing everything to destroy us completely: our history, our culture, our people, killing Ukrainians using absolutely barbaric methods,’ Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the attack.
