Art-Market Editor
ArtReview Ltd is seeking an experienced editor to manage a new, digital-only, art-market-focused publication that sits alongside, but independently of the brand’s existing titles.
The Editor is responsible for the creation of content and growing traffic and engagement across the new title’s digital platforms. They will set editorial agendas, oversee the commissioning of content across a range of media, and devise and execute long- and short-term editorial strategies.
They will be responsible for managing publication’s editorial team, and defining, establishing and maintaining its brand identity while upholding the highest standards of journalism across the brand.
This is a unique opportunity to rethink both the way art-market reporting operates and the audience at which it is aimed. We’re looking for a creative thinker who can bring fresh ideas to both.
Strategy
- Play an integral role within the editorial team, taking responsibility for managing and upskilling team members in high-quality content production.
- Develop innovative digital products and expand into the sphere of live events.
- Identify and execute strategies for audience growth and engagement.
- Drive revenue growth by developing and implementing a dynamic digital strategy across all platforms, supporting both editorial and commercial teams.
Editorial
We believe art-market reporting belongs in a wider cultural conversation – about far more than exhibitions and sales.
- Collaborate with senior editors to ensure all content aligns with the publication’s vision and brand guidelines.
- Oversee in-house and freelance contributors to deliver timely, compelling website content on schedule and within budget.
- Set and monitor key performance goals for engagement, traffic, conversion, and time-on-page, reporting progress weekly.
- Champion editorial excellence across all formats.
- Lead, manage and inspire the editorial team across all platforms; as Editor, you will be the direct line manager for the editorial staff.
- Ensure all copy is commissioned, edited and published in line with production schedules.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members as needed.
Skills and qualifications:
- A seasoned commissioner and editor with experience overseeing content from concept through to publication.
- Strong knowledge of both domestic and international art markets.
- Extensive network of contacts within the global contemporary art world, including writers, journalists, and industry figures.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities.
