Prix Marcel Duchamp announces shortlist for 2019 edition

The shortlisted artists for the Prix Marcel Duchamp, an annual award supporting artists based in France, has been revealed. They are: Eric Baudelaire; Katinka Bock; Marguerite Humeau; and Ida Tursic & Wilfried Mille. Organised by the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art (ADIAF) in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, it comes with a €35,000 cash prize and is considered one of the most prestigious prize in the country. Winners of previous editions include Kader Attia, Cyprien Gaillard, Melik Ohanian and Clément Cogitore.

The winner of the 2019 edition will be announced on 14 October, and an exhibition featuring works by the four shortlisted artists will run from 9 October to 6 January 2020 at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. This year’s nominees were selected by an internal jury comprising Bernard Blistène, director of the Centre Pompidou; Joao Fernandes, deputy director of the Museo National de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid; Gilles Fuchs, collector and president of ADIAF; Jean de Loisy, director of the Beaux-Arts de Paris; Afroditi Panagiotakou, collector and director of Culturede, Onassis Foundation; Catherine Petitgas, collector, president of Fluxus Art Projects and Committee of Tate International Council; and Akemi Shiraha, representing the Marcel Duchamp Association for the prize.
