Copenhagen Contemporary (CC), a contemporary arts venue that was piloted for 18 months on Papirøen (Paper Island) has announced that it will reopen this summer in the city’s cultural district Refshaleøen, an annexed island also home to theatre company Asterions Hus, artistic community Skabelonloftet at Yard Gallery and Noma, which has just opened a new restaurant. The venue has signed a lease for a permanent home in the former welding hall of a shipyard, which will give CC 7,000 m2 of space. CC has also announced the appointment of Marie Nipper as its new director. Nipper, who was previously the senior curator at ARoS and senior curator and interim artistic director at Tate Liverpool, took up the role in February this year replacing Jens Erik Sørensen. Sørensen will continue to work with CC as a senior advisor.

Copenhagen Contemporary will open on 28 June 2018 with two inaugural exhibitions:

28 June – 30 December: SUPERFLEX One Two Three Swing!

28 June – 30 December: Doug Aitken Song
