Paul Kasmin, 1960–2020

Paul Kasmin, the New York-based gallerist, has died. The son of British art dealer and collector John Kasmin, Paul opened his first New York gallery in 1989 in SoHo, before being one of the first dealers in set up shop in Chelsea. Kasmin gallery now operates across three sites in the area as well a rooftop sculpture garden viewable from the High Line, representing the likes Roxy Paine, Mark Ryden, Bosco Sodi and Bernar Venet, among others, and the estates of Constantin Brancusi, William N. Copley,  Max Ernst, Barry Flanagan, Robert Indiana, Lee Krasner, and Robert Motherwell. Kasmin also pursued portrait photography as a practice documenting the New York art scene. Kasmin had suffered a long illness and the gallery will continue.
