Argentinian artist Tomás Saraceno has set six world records – altitude, distance and duration – flying a fully solar-powered hot air balloon. The flight, which took place over the Salinas Grandes salt flats, was for the global art initiative launched by K-pop band BTS earlier this month. Saraceno’s Fly with Aerocene Pacha has been in development since 2015 as part of his Aerocene Foundation, a multidisciplinary organisation investigating environmental issues through scientific research, artistic expression, and education.

The event was live streamed on YouTube, where it is still on view. There will also be regular screenings of the stream at Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires from 31 January 2020 through March.
