Korea Art Prize 2020 announces finalists

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA), Seoul, has announced the finalists for this year’s Korea Artist Prize, Korea Herald reports. Seulgi Lee, Minae Kim, Yoonsuk Jung and Heesung Chung, will be awarded a cash prize of KRW40 million (about £26,000) to support the production of new work which will be presented in the annual Korea Artist Prize exhibition, held from 30 October 2020 – 29 March 2021. One of the artists will be selected as the winner of the prize in December, after a judging panel review the works on show at the exhibition. The winning artist will receive an additional KRW10 million (about £6,500). The judging panel are: Yun Bummo (director, MMCA), Lee Young Chul (professor, Kaywon University of Art and Design), Lolita Jabloskiene (curator, Lithuanian National Gallery of Art), Christopher Lew (curator, Whitney Museum of American Art), and Patrick Flores (curator, Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center of the University of the Philippines).
