Many museums and galleries across the United States will be closed today, 30 January, in support of the ‘National Shutdown’, a nationwide strike calling for ‘No work. No School. No Shopping. Stop funding ICE’.
The strike follows the death of at least 8 people since the start of the year, who died either while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody or who were killed by ICE agents. The recent killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis had already led to the organisation of an economic blackout in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St Paul, Minnesota) on 23 January.
See below for the list of museums and galleries closing on 30 January.
