Ali Roche has been appointed director of LUX. Roche is currently chief curator at Nottingham Contemporary and was previously head of commissions at Spike Island in Bristol.
LUX traces its origins to the founding of The London Film-Makers’ Co-operative in the 1960s, via organisations such as London Video Arts and the Lux Centre, the collection of which it inherited. In September, Ben Cook, the founding-director of the current iteration, announced his resignation after 22 years, moving to a personal practice as a therapist, coach and facilitator.
As well as staging exhibitions, screenings, workshops, courses and talks LUX acts as a distributor of artists’ moving image work.
