Manila-based artists Eisa Jocscon and Yason Banal will discuss the changing face of the contemporary art scene in the Philippines with ArtReview Asia’s editor-in-chief Mark Rappolt. The talk anticipates the opening of Motions Of This Kind: Propositions & Problems of Belatedness at SOAS’s Brunei Gallery (12 April – 22 June), London, a group show looking at artistic practices from the Philippines (see here for more details).

Jocson’s work explores body politics as manifested in the service and entertainment industries. Banal works in a range of media to explore the associations and refractions between seemingly diverse systems of knowledge
