Mateus Nunes

Mateus Nunes is a curator, writer, and art critic from the Brazilian Amazon, based in São Paulo. He is an assistant curator at the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP). Nunes holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Lisbon and completed postdoctoral fellowships in 18th-century art and architecture at the Universidade de São Paulo, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, and the Getty Foundation. He frequently contributes to Artforum, ArtReview, and Frieze. His work concentrates on non-hegemonic systems of organising, perceiving and understanding time and history when facing art, particularly concerning image theory.
