Cosmin Costinaș and Inti Guerrero will be the artistic directors of the 9th Yokohama Triennale, slated to take place 23 April to 12 September 2027, at the Yokohama Museum of Art and other venues across the city.

The duo, who have previously collaborated in presenting the 24th Biennale of Sydney, Ten Thousand Suns, in 2024, was selected by a panel of six, from a pool of 22 candidates recommended by 13 Japanese and international organisations. Their proposal was chosen in line with the Yokohama Museum of Art’s policy to ‘organise dialogue with many regions around the world in a sustainable way.’

Born in Satu Mare, writer and critic Cosmin Costinaș is a senior curator at HKW, Berlin. From 2011 to 2022, he was executive director of Hong Kong’s Para Site. Besides the last Biennale of Sydney he directed the Kathmandu Triennale and co-curated his home Romanian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale, both in 2022.

Bogotá-born Inti Guerrero is an art historian. He is currently adjunct professor at Hong Kong’s City University and a PhD supervisor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, having taught at many institutions around the world. Some of his curatorial projects include Myth Makers – Spectrosynthesis III at Tai Kwun, Hong Kong (2022) and Institute for Tropical and Galactical Studies as part of Yokohama Triennale 2020.
