Elvira Dyangani Ose has been appointed artistic director of the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA), Cape Town. She will start the role on 1 October, succeeding Koyo Kouoh, who was the institution’s director and chief curator from 2019 until her death in 2025.
Dyangani Ose is currently artistic director of the 2026–27 Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial. She recently stepped down from her role as director of MACBA, Barcelona, apparently due to incompatibilities between that position and her role as artistic director for the upcoming Abu Dhabi biennial. Prior to this she held several senior leadership and curatorial positions at institutions internationally, including The Showroom, London; Creative Time, New York; and Tate, London.
