England will push ahead with dropping all COVID-19 restrictions, prime minister Boris Johnson has announced.

The confirmation that 19 July will see the relaxation of measures including restrictions on indoor gathering and mask wearing comes amidst warnings from scientists over an increasing epidemic.

Venues and events such as concert halls, cinemas, nightclubs, arts festivals and theatres can return to full capacity.

Live performances will also be allowed to return to pre-COVID-19 capacity with the scrapping of social distancing rules. There will be no requirement for certification or vaccination ‘passports’ for entry to events.

Johnson warned the pandemic was ‘far from over’. The decision to return to full capacity is subject to another review this month.
