K11 ECOAST, a US$1.4 billion project codeveloped by New World Development Company Limited (K11’s parent company) and China Merchants Shekou Holdings, is set to open in Prince Bay, Nanshan, Shenzhen.

Spanning 228,500 square metres, it will comprise an art mall, art space, office building and promenade, serving as the art foundation’s flagship outpost for mainland China. The project is slated to open in late 2024.

A team of architects – including David Chipperfield, Sou Fujimoto and OMA – will work on the harbourfront complex. The institution seeks to ‘integrate international art and culture into commercial development, cultivating a unique cultural retail experience,’ organisers said in a statement.
