The French city of Marseille has been announced as the host for the 13th edition of Manifesta, Europe’s contemporary art biennial, The Art Newspaper reports. Scheduled for 2020, it will succeed to Zurich this Summer and Palermo in 2018. The mayor’s office has formally unblocked subsidies worth €627,000 to pay for the rights to hold the event and from now to 2020, Marseilles will dedicate a total of €2.4m towards the biennial. The theme will be announced this autumn.
