Michael Jordan makes major donation to National Museum of African American History and Culture

The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington has announced a major donation has been made to the museum by retired professional basketball player Michael Jordon, the International New York Times reports. The former team member of the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards pledged almost $5 million (£3.86 million) to the new museum, designed by British architecture firm David Adjaye Associates, and which is due to open on 24 September 2016. Officials at the museum have said that in recognition of the gift, part of the sports gallery will be named after Jordan.
