Haus der Kunst in Munich has announced the cancellation of an exhibition of Joan Jonas’s works, The Art Newspaper reports. Citing ‘a difficult financial situation stemming from management errors of the past’, the museum has had trouble establishing finances for the show, which is currently on view at Tate Modern in London through 5 August. The decision to cancel the exhibition has followed former-director Okwui Enwezor’s abrupt departure due to health reasons. The exhibition was due to travel to Munich in November, but business director Bernhard Spies, who has set a strict austerity programme in order to secure Haus der Kunst’s financial situation, has said the institution’s expenditure for the year exceeded the budget with problems stemming from ‘patchy documentation of important decisions and wrong judgments’. Enwezor’s successor has yet to be named.
