Colombian artist Carlos Motta and Angolan artist Nástio Mosquito have been awarded joint winners of the main Future Generation Art Prize. Founded by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009, Future Generation Art Prize acknowledges international artists up to the age of 35. The two winners will share the $100,000 (£64,000), which is given as $60,000 (£38,500) in cash and $40,000 (£25,500) towards the production of new work. The announcement was made at an award ceremony in the Pinchuk Art Centre, Kiev, Ukraine, where both artists will present solo shows in the autumn of 2015.
The international jury were curator Francesco Bonami; artists Jan Fabre and Doris Salcedo; Eckhard Schneider – General Director of the PinchukArtCentre; Bisi Silva – independent curator and director for the Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos; Adam Szymczyk – Artistic director of documenta 14 and Philip Tinari – Director of the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing.
