Mexican artist Diego Rivera’s Detroit Industry murals have been spared from the list of artworks being considered for liquidation in order to alleviate the city’s bankruptcy debts, Bloomberg have reported.
The impressive frescoes, part of the Detroit Institute of Arts, were unveiled in 1933 and consist of 27 panels, with the largest 75 feet long and 17 feet high. They depict multiracial Ford car workers along with more symbolic imagery relating to advances in science, medicine and technology.
