Preis der Nationalgalerie 2024 has for the first time announced four winning artists: Pan Daijing, Daniel Lie, Hanne Lippard and James Richards, who will produce four new pieces to be exhibited at the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart from April to September 2024.

This year’s winners were selected by twelve directors and art historians from 70 nominations. The final selection was made by a jury of six, including Cecilia Alemani (Director and Chief Curator of High Line Art, New York), Elvira Dyangani Ose (Director of MACBA, Barcelona), Kasia Redzisz (Artistic Director of KANAL – Centre Pompidou, Brussels), Jochen Volz (Director General of the Pina-coteca do Estado, São Paulo) and Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath (Directors of the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin) and Gabriele Knapstein (Acting Director and Head of the Collection, Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin).

Founded in 2000, the Preis der Nationalgalerie is awarded every two years to artists aged under 40 who reflect the international scope and vitality of the German artscene. Previous recipients include Pauline Curnier Jardin, Agnieszka Polska and Anne Imhof.
