The British architect Terry Farrell has died, his London studio, Farrels, announced. While known for his postmodern buildings in London, in particular the MI6 headquarters building in Vauxhall and TV-am studio in Camden, Farrell also designed Beijing South railway station and the Ground Transportation Centre at Incheon International Airport in Seoul. Farrell later went on to set up the Farrell Centre gallery and community space in Newcastle.

‘Terry was frequently called a maverick and a non-conformist, which he relished. He was an architect who was never quite part of the ‘club’, Farrels said in a statement. ‘He will be remembered as the UK’s leading architect planner whose enduring commitment to urbanism has helped shape government policy on key built environment issues.’

The news follows the passing of Farrell’s long-term collaborator Nicholas Grimshaw earlier this month.
