The 59th Carnegie International announces artist commissions

The Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania has announced a first round of 14 artists who will debut new commissions at the 59th Carnegie International. The 2026 edition is organised by Ryan Inouye, Danielle A. Jackson and Liz Park, who were named the Kathe and Jim Patrinos Curators of the exhibition in November 2023.

The new works will be on view across the Carnegie Museum of Art and four partner institutions in Pittsburgh: the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, the Kamin Science Center, the Mattress Factory and the Thelma Lovette YMCA.

The 14 artists and collectives that have been announced so far are: Torkwase Dyson, Alia Farid, Sanchayan Ghosh, Jonathan González, Abraham González Pacheco, Eric Gyamfi, G. Peter Jemison, Liz Johnson Artur, Arturo Kameya and Claudia Martínez Garay, Cinthia Marcelle, Shala Miller, Brooke O’Harra, Sogetsu Foundation, and Ginger Brooks Takahashi. The complete list of approximately 50 participating artists will be announced in 2026.

The 59th Carnegie International will take place from 2 May 2026 to 3 January 2027
