Tone Hansen has been appointed chief superintendent and director of Moderna Museet, Stockholm and Malmö, the Swedish Ministry of Culture has announced. She will start her new role in September, taking over from Gitte Ørskou who has held the position for seven years.
Hansen has been director of MUNCH in Oslo since 2022. Prior to this, she was director of Henie Onstad Art Center, Oslo.
‘My ambition is to shape a new direction for Moderna Museet and to build a stronger, more innovative and knowledge-driven organisation within one of the world’s most influential museums, with art, architecture, design and audiences at its heart’, said Hansen in a statement.
