The International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM), a network of museums and museum professionals, has issued guidelines for institutions reopening in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

CIMAM looked to examples set by the National Gallery Singapore, M+, and Mori Art Museum when coming up with the guidelines, which include suggestions to implement temperature screening for visitors and staff and suspend programs targeted at vulnerable groups and events for more than 100 participants, as well as placing hand sanitiser in places that are easy to access.

This comes after institutions in Europe and Asia reopened or announced plans to reopen soon as local governments have begun easing the restrictions on lockdowns. The ICOM affiliated organisation emphasised that they will continue to share experiences of museums as they respond to, and cope with the global health crisis.
