Jonathan Abbott has been named CEO and director of Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art, the museum has announced. The appointment followed an international search conducted by the board of trustees. Abbott succeeds Ann Goldstein, who was interim director from August 2025.
Abbott was most recently president and CEO of GBH, the largest content producer for PBS, from 2007 to 2022, where he oversaw annual budget, fundraising campaign and asset growth and led the company’s digital transformation.
‘MOCA has always stood for the power of contemporary art to challenge assumptions and open up new ways of seeing the world,’ Abbott said in a statement. ‘I want to help bring broader support and audiences to work that is urgent and thought-provoking.’
