Petrit Halilaj wins the 2024 Stromboli Prize

Kosovar artist Petrit Halilaj has won the 2024 Stromboli Prize for Contemporary Art, ChertLüdde announced. Halilaj was selected from five finalists including Yuri Ancarani, Benni Bosetto, Irene Fenara and Renato Leotta.

Named after the Stromboli Island that hosts an active volcano, the Prize is awarded annually to creators and researchers in the fields of contemporary art, WEB3/Digital and academic research. The works of all five finalists will be on view in an exhibition titled Eroico (il) paesaggio at the Church of San Bartolomeo on the Stromboli Island, alongside a 5 day celebration that will turn the island into an multidisciplinary cultural hub. The exhibition will be on view until 5 August 2024.

Petrit Halilaj has dedicated the award to his former professor, the late Alberto Garutti and has announced that he would donate the proceeds from the 2024 Stromboli Prize to the Hajde! Foundation in Runik, Kosovo.
