This year’s Film & Media Festival, under the helm of new director Peter Taylor (formerly of International Film Festival Rotterdam), takes the title theme of Fact and Fiction and has an expanded focus on new cinema and artists’ moving image.
Among those presenting new commissions are Paul Rooney, 2015 Jarman Award nominee Seamus Harahan, Elise Florenty & Marcel Türkowsky and CIRCA Projects, alongside UK premieres of works by Ben Rivers, Renate Lorenz & Pauline Boudry and Pacho Velez. Seamus Harahan and Deimantas Narkevičius are the Festival’s artists in focus.
There’s still time to catch Sunday’s screenings and events which include Renate Lorenz & Pauline Boudry’s short Opaque, 2014, showing in the Town Hall council chamber; Festival commission Still at Large, 2015, by Paul Rooney, showing in the Custom House and Seamus Harahan’s Festival commission, the film anthology Fucking Finland, 2015, also showing in the Town Hall.
