A largescale three-month retrospective of the Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto opens at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, 14 February. Titled The Body That Carries Me, surveys Neto’s installation work: sensual, gloopy, micro-worlds, where the bulging, swaying, stretching seemingly-organic forms, belie the textile materials the artist employs. Divided in six sections (‘Why Are You Going to Rome Again?’, ‘That’s Life’, ‘Tent of Dreams’, ‘Sweet Border’, ‘Never Mind the Mess’ and ‘Candy Man Candy’) that will occupy nine spaces within the Frank Gehry-designed museum, the sculptures will enter into dialogue with the multilayer, multiplane, architecture.
