This trio, the directors of Contemporary Fine Arts (CFA), Berlin, have reinvented their gallery through relocation – from young, trendy and successful, with an exhibition space in a typical Mittestyle backyard, to international blue chip, complete with doormen and security, in a purpose-built gallery building by David Chipperfield, next to the city’s Museum Island. It’s not surprising that flocking tourists pass through these spaces thinking they are a public museum for contemporary art.
