Washington, DC-region industrialist Mitchell Rales has used some of the billions earned through his Fortune 500 company, Danaher, to build a sizeable body of mid-century work and a sleek Gwathmey Siegel building to house it all in. Yet his Glenstone museum’s limited access (open only by appointment, and never to the media) made one Washington City Paper journalist cry foul this past June, fuelling industry speculation that his hidden collection might soon find a more public home.
