It was to the us that Sandretto Re Rebaudengo’s eyes were drawn during the 30th anniversary of her Turin-based art foundation. The first exhibition stateside of her collection opened at the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, UC Davis, featuring 30 women artists; the patron also initiated a series of cocommissions with the New Museum in New York (where she sits on the International Leadership Council, one of her many board seats), kicking off with a musical film by voguish Italian artist Diego Marcon (which premiered at Chicago’s Renaissance Society while the New Museum is closed for refurbishment). In Italy there were shows for Teresa Solar Abboud, Jem Perucchini, Marwa Arsanios and Alessandra Ferrini, while Pol Taburet exhibited at the foundation’s Madrid offshoot. Both bases hosted branches of the annual curatorial residency. Meanwhile, the development of a third location on a Venetian island continues, while Sandretto, who is also president of the Fondazione Arte CRT, will cohost this year’s CIMAM conference (she is a patron of that organisation too) in Turin.
