Mariam Elnozahy has been named the chief curator of the second edition of the Ulaanbaatar Biennale, slated to run 3–30 June, 2027
Elnozahy is a curator, researcher and writer whose interests span histories of globalisation, development and resource extraction. Since 2023 she has been artistic director of Konsthall C in Stockholm. Prior to this she served different roles at the Townhouse Gallery for Contemporary Art in Cairo and Ma3azef Magazine.
The title of the upcoming biennial Love Songs for Mountains takes inspiration from a multidisciplinary research project by one of the edition’s participating artists Zahra Malkani, whose Noorani Metal Sound (2026) traces oral traditions of devotion and environmental resistance in Pakistan.
