Senior MoMA archivist Michelle Elligott will take up the new position on 1 July and will lead the institution’s programme to acquire, preserve, and make accessible archival and primary source collections that relate to 20th- and 21st-century art. Her chief responsibilities will include enhancing the use of archives for research and in Museum exhibitions, leading an initiative for the creation of an electronic archive, and promoting online access to digitised items from the archives, which contain more than six million items.
