
The Diriyah Biennale Foundation has announced the theme and preliminary list of artists for the third edition of the Biennale, set to open on 30 January 2026 in the city’s creative district, JAX.
Titled In Interludes and Transitions (في الحِلّ والترحال) after a colloquial phrase describing the rhythm of nomadic life between settlements and movements in the Arabian Peninsula, the exhibition will address themes of migration, connection and cultural transmission. Its artistic directors, Nora Razian and Sabih Ahmed, will work with design studio Formafantasma to present programmes across venues and outdoor spaces.
In Interludes and Transitions will feature over 20 new commissions as well as works by over 70 artists. Those announced include: Pio Abad, Rand Abdul Jabbar, Yussef Agbo-Ola (Olaniyi Studio), Ahaad Alamoudi, Afra Al Dhaheri, Mohammed Alhamdan (7amdan), Ruba Al-Sweel, Taysir Batniji, Raven Chacon, Rohini Devasher, Merve Ertufan, Ivana Franke, Rahima Gambo, Petrit Halilaj, Aziz Hazara, Alana Hunt, Yazan Khalili, George Mahashe, Théo Mercier, Nour Mobarak, Nancy Mounir, Hussein Nassereddine, Daniel Otero Torres, Thảo Nguyên Phan, Gala Porras-Kim, Sarker Protick, Raqs Media Collective, Oscar Santillán, Trương Công Tùng, Wolff Architects, Agustina Woodgate, and Yu Ji.
